Upcoming Changes to Gemini Chat Controls in Google App
Google is continuously refining the Gemini experience within the Google app, with the latest update focusing on simplifying chat initiation, management, and sharing. In version 16.37.46.sa.arm64, several adjustments have been enabled to streamline Gemini. The account menu now labels the former 'Apps' entry as 'Connected Apps,' reflecting Gemini's integration with other services.
The Gemini chat screen has been revamped, replacing the account switcher at the top with a 'New chat' shortcut, allowing users to start a new chat without accessing the sidebar. Additionally, a new down arrow next to the chat title opens a bottom sheet with options such as Share, Pin, Rename, and Delete, which were previously accessible only by entering the sidebar and long-pressing a chat.
The Gemini sidebar now includes a Share option alongside Rename, Pin, and Delete, providing an alternative method to share a conversation without opening it first. These changes are currently in testing, and while their widespread rollout is not guaranteed, they indicate Google's intent to make Gemini easier to navigate and manage.
