OpenAI Testing ChatGPT-Powered Agent Builder

OpenAI is developing a tool that enables users to create their own AI agents. AI startups believe AI agents are the future, and OpenAI's AI Builder could be a pivotal moment for building agent experiences.

The OpenAI Agent Builder features a flowchart where users drop small blocks, known as nodes, and connect them with arrows. Each node performs a specific task, and arrows indicate the sequence of steps. Users can start with templates like 'Customer service', 'Data enrichment', or 'Document comparison', or begin with a blank slate.

Leaked screenshots reveal that templates provide an editable layout. All nodes are linked to an agent with user-defined rules. Users can select a model, customize the prompt, and set 'Reasoning effort' and output format (text or JSON). Agents can utilize tools.

The AI Builder will also support MCP, allowing the addition of connectors such as Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams, and Dropbox. Once added, agents can call these services within the flow, depending on the connector's capabilities.

OpenAI will share more details at the DevDay conference later today. This tool is transforming AI-powered security validation and will be a significant event shaping future security strategies.
