NotebookLM Expands with Multilingual AI Video Summaries

Google's NotebookLM initially launched as an AI-powered research tool with Audio Overviews capable of creating AI-produced 'podcasts' with digital hosts. This evolved into Video Overviews, featuring synthetic voices alongside slides with text and illustrations. However, this feature was previously only available in English.

Now, NotebookLM Video Overviews are accessible in over 80 languages. This means translatable versions of video walkthroughs based on uploaded notes and linked source materials for most users. The AI professor is already present and now acts as a multilingual expert, presenting content in languages ranging from Tamil to Polish.

These AI summaries are not scraped from the web or based on vague prompts. NotebookLM is grounded in the actual material uploaded by users. Everything the AI communicates in video or audio is directly sourced from documents, not generic training data.

The video content is not a cinematic masterpiece. The slides are not fully animated explainers. This is not TikTok for term papers; it resembles PowerPoint for those who prefer not to create PowerPoints. The aim is clarity, not spectacle.

This is not the only global upgrade for NotebookLM. While Audio Overviews were recently available in many languages, they were limited to brief highlights. Now, everyone can experience the complete audio AI experience as an alternative to the video option.
