Napster Relaunches with AI Companions and Holographic Display

Napster, known for its digital music innovation in the early 2000s, is making a comeback in the AI era. Acquired by Infinite Reality in March 2025, the company has announced Napster 26, an AI companion platform, and Napster View, a 2.1-inch 3D holographic display. CEO John Acunto aims to redefine the relationship between humans, machines, and creativity.

Napster 26 is available via subscription, while Napster View costs $99 or is free with an annual subscription. Users can interact with AI companions as if they were present in the same space. Acunto describes this as a new paradigm where AI and humans collaborate with equal presence and context.

The focus is on enabling users to concentrate on creative tasks. AI companions handle repetitive tasks, allowing users to focus on unique creative work. Acunto highlights the utility of this technology for marketing teams, where bandwidth is often a constraint.

Napster 26 also creates a digital twin of users, available 24/7 for interaction. This feature enhances creative and collaborative efficiency, allowing team members to share ideas even when unavailable due to meetings or time zone differences.

In a time when privacy is a significant concern, Napster prioritizes user control. No data is recorded without user initiation, and AI companions do not access screens or cameras unless activated by the user. This design fosters trust and transparency.
