Microsoft Introduces Mico Tutor for Copilot Study Mode
Microsoft is testing a new Study and Learn mode for Copilot, featuring the tutor avatar Mico and voice commands for academic sessions.
This mode offers a specialized voice experience for educational use, with a transition from the traditional blue to yellow, indicating a learning environment.
The avatar, Mico, adopts a new visual identity with a hat and glasses, emphasizing a more approachable, tutor-like persona. Mico appears beside a virtual board that prompts, "Let’s dive in, what would you like to learn?"
Currently, Mico can acknowledge requests to show something on the board, but the interface does not yet update, indicating the feature is still in development. The virtual board may later support text or graphical explanations, aligning with Microsoft's goal to blend conversational AI with real-time visual aids.
This update aligns with Microsoft's broader strategy to enhance Copilot as a digital study partner. The rollout timeline is uncertain, but it is expected to undergo limited testing before wider release. If dynamic content is enabled on the virtual board, Copilot could become a significant player in educational AI, offering an interactive alternative to text-based tools.
