Microsoft Integrates Copilot Benchmarks into Viva Insights

Microsoft has integrated Copilot adoption benchmarks into Viva Insights, a tool designed to monitor team activities and assess the rapidity of AI integration.

Viva Insights collects data from employee activities, allowing organizations to compare their productivity metrics internally and with other companies. The addition of Copilot adoption benchmarks aligns with its purpose of tracking productivity.

Microsoft claims the tool enhances productivity, though some customers remain skeptical. The Copilot Dashboard now enables comparison of active user percentages, app adoption, and role-based cohort results across different company types and regions.

An 'active Copilot user' is defined by Microsoft as someone who intentionally uses AI-powered features in Microsoft applications like Teams, Outlook, and Excel. While tracking Copilot usage is logical, some may view benchmarking as excessive.

Currently, the benchmarks do not differentiate between personal and employer-purchased licenses, but aim to identify adoption trends and improve engagement. These benchmarks are available to private preview customers and will be rolled out to all users later in October.
