Meta AI Translates and Dubs Reels for Global Audience

Meta has introduced AI technology to translate and dub Reels on Facebook and Instagram into English, Spanish, Hindi, and Portuguese. This technology mimics a creator's tone and voice in another language, adding realism with optional lip-sync. The tools are free for Facebook creators with at least 1,000 followers and all public Instagram accounts in countries where Meta AI is available.

Reels translated by Meta AI are clearly labeled, allowing viewers to toggle translations or opt out of lip-sync. Meta aims to enhance accessibility and enjoyment of short-form content across cultures through AI-driven voice cloning and lip-movement matching.

While YouTube offers captions and subtitles, real-time voice dubbing with lip-sync is not yet widely available. If Meta can smoothly implement this across more languages, it could become a leader in international content.

With Meta AI's translation assistance, creators from various countries may appear on Reels, and viewers can identify this with the 'Translated with Meta AI' label.
