Lockheed Martin Integrates Google’s Generative AI into Operations
Lockheed Martin has announced a collaboration with Google Public Sector to provide its employees with access to Google's generative AI applications for various operational uses.
These tools will be integrated into Lockheed Martin's AI Factory, an internal ecosystem designed to support personnel in developing AI solutions with computing resources, data, and software. The agreement includes the integration of Google Gemini, a suite of large multimodal AI models that the defense contractor can utilize across its workflows.
Generative AI, a subfield of artificial intelligence, employs large language models to create content such as text, audio, code, images, and videos based on trained data. In recent years, both the Pentagon and the defense industry have adopted this disruptive technology to streamline operations while ensuring data security.
The collaboration between Lockheed Martin and Google Public Sector will proceed in phases, initially deploying Google's generative AI tools in Lockheed's unclassified, on-premises workspaces.
Employees will leverage the technology for tasks like accelerated data analysis to uncover patterns and insights, advanced research and development, and optimizing supply chain management and logistics planning.
