Kushner Co-Founds AI Startup Brain Co.
Jared Kushner, former White House advisor and son-in-law of Donald Trump, has entered the artificial intelligence industry by co-founding Brain Co., a startup that announced on September 11 it raised $30 million in Series A funding to assist governments and large enterprises in adopting AI.
Kushner partnered with tech investor Elad Gil and former Mexican Foreign Minister Luis Videgaray to establish Brain Co., creating a leadership team that integrates politics, technology, and finance.
The funding round was led by Kushner's private-equity firm Affinity Partners and Gil's Gil Capital, attracting support from Silicon Valley billionaires such as Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong and Stripe co-founder Patrick Collison.
Brain Co. has also formed a strategic partnership with OpenAI to develop applications tailored for large-scale organizations.
Based in San Francisco, the company employs around 40 people and collaborates with 10 firms listed on the Forbes Global 2000. Its client base includes governments, healthcare systems, energy providers, and hospitality chains.
CEO Clemens Mewald stated that the company does not plan to specialize in a single sector. Brain Co. has developed tools to streamline hotel bookings, process government permits, and manage insurance claims efficiently.
In September 2024, Brain Co. acquired Serene AI, a mental health AI companion app, adding its co-founders Dan Ashton, Mircea Pașoi, and Revant Kapoor to the leadership team.
Kushner founded Affinity Partners in 2021 after leaving the White House. The fund manages over $4.8 billion in assets, primarily from sovereign wealth funds in the Middle East.
