Grok Code Fast 1 Released: AI Model Supports Multiple Languages
Company xAI, led by Elon Musk, has introduced Grok Code Fast 1, a new AI model focused on agent-based coding, supporting multi-step coding and tool integration.
Grok Code Fast 1 was developed from the ground up with a new architecture. During pre-training, a comprehensive data corpus rich in programming materials was collected. For post-training, datasets reflecting real-world scenarios were selected. The team collaborated with launch partners to refine the model's behavior on agent platforms, enabling Grok Code Fast 1 to work seamlessly with common tools like grep, terminal, and file editing, and to integrate well with most IDEs.
The model is currently available for free for a limited time through launch partners in products such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Cline, Roo Code, Kilo Code, opencode, and Windsurf.
Special attention was given to the model's speed during development, allowing it to perform numerous tool calls before the user finishes reading the first paragraph of a 'chain of thought'. Additionally, optimizations have been implemented to achieve over 90% cache hits when working with launch partners.
Grok Code Fast 1 operates across the entire development stack, excelling particularly in TypeScript, Python, Java, Rust, C++, and Go. The model is capable of performing typical tasks with minimal supervision.
The new model was tested in general assessments and evaluated by real developers in their daily tasks. According to the company, Grok Code Fast 1 has been highly praised by programmers as a fast and reliable model for everyday tasks.
Grok Code Fast 1 is designed for widespread use and is available for free from exclusive launch partners for a limited period. It was previously released quietly under the codename 'sonic'.
