GitHub Enhances Copilot Task Management

GitHub has introduced new features for managing Copilot coding agent tasks. Users can now manage all tasks within a centralized view without navigating through multiple pages.

The new feature provides a comprehensive view of Copilot's activities. Session logs are available alongside the Overview and Files changed tabs, allowing users to access relevant information without leaving the page. Users can see the rationale behind Copilot's commits in real-time.

Real-time steering allows users to guide Copilot's work. Input can be provided during a session, and Copilot will adapt as soon as its current tool call completes. Feedback is easier to provide, with the option to add comments directly in the Files changed view.

The new task view facilitates effortless switching between tasks. Task status is visible at a glance, and users can easily engage when Copilot requires input. Quick links are available to navigate directly to the pull request.

In addition to existing options, users can now create Copilot coding agent tasks directly on github.com. Access to Copilot coding agent requires write access to the repository for collaboration.

Users can join discussions within the GitHub Community and access a newsletter offering technical guides and best practices for developers.
