Claude Sonnet 4.5 Now Available in GitHub Copilot

Claude Sonnet 4.5 is now generally available to Copilot Enterprise, Copilot Business, Copilot Pro, and Copilot Pro+ customers.

Users can access the model in GitHub Copilot Chat on github.com, GitHub Mobile, Visual Studio Code, Visual Studio, JetBrains IDEs, Xcode, and Eclipse through the chat model picker in agent, ask, or edit modes. If access is not yet available, users are advised to check back later.

Administrators of Copilot Business and Copilot Enterprise must enable the new Claude Sonnet 4.5 policy in Copilot Chat and IDE settings to opt in. Once enabled, users in the organization will see the models in the model picker across all supported IDEs.

For individual plans, users can enable Claude Sonnet 4.5 by selecting it in the model picker in any supported IDE and confirming the one-time prompt.

The Copilot coding agent will now use Claude Sonnet 4.5 for all subscription types, regardless of Copilot Chat and IDE settings.
