Anthrax Targeted by AI Imitation

AI has previously imitated deceased and folk artists, and now it targets Anthrax fans with a new album titled 'Crazy Sheep'.

'Crazy Sheep' appeared on Anthrax's Spotify page, listed as a collaboration with 'El Director', an artist with only 273 monthly listeners. However, the album bears no resemblance to Anthrax's style, instead featuring generic EDM.

The band has not commented on the situation, and the album is now grayed out on Spotify's web page.

'El Director' has released nine albums since early 2024, all featuring stock or AI-generated cover art.

The real issue is Spotify's response to this. Their delay in removing AI-generated music is damaging their reputation. Recently, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard and Deerhoof removed their music from Spotify. If the platform does not address the AI music proliferation, more artists may follow suit.
