AI Dating App Gains Popularity Among Married Men in Japan

A dating app featuring AI-generated individuals, known as Loverse, has gained popularity among married men in their 40s in Japan. The app allows users to browse through AI-generated profiles and choose potential partners, with a subscription plan available for 2,500 yen per month.

The virtual characters in Loverse are designed to mimic human behavior, with profiles dictating their busy schedules. Users may face rejection from these AI partners, but the app offers the option to generate new profiles as needed.

According to a survey by Loverse, the majority of users are married men in their 40s. These individuals, who married before the advent of dating apps, seem interested in exploring this new social phenomenon in a controlled environment.

Loverse includes disclaimers to prevent users from becoming too engrossed in synthetic relationships, redirecting discussions of self-harm to government-run consultation services. However, many online comments question the value of investing time and money in fictitious relationships.
