AI Assistant Gemini Launches on Google TV
Google's AI chatbot Gemini is set to enhance television experiences. Announced on September 22, Gemini, the AI successor to Google Assistant, is being launched on Google TV. Initially, its availability will be limited, but Google has outlined a comprehensive range of features that the AI assistant will offer on TV.
Gemini aims to provide 'effortless entertainment' by simplifying the process of finding movies and shows that viewers enjoy. Users can request Gemini to locate a movie that meets specific criteria, ensuring it suits the preferences of everyone in the household.
For those who enjoy binge-watching, Gemini can offer recaps of previous seasons, making it easier to catch up on shows. This feature is part of Gemini's latest expansion, following its integration as an in-browser assistant on Chrome.
The AI's capabilities extend further, assisting users in identifying shows or movies they can't recall by description. Users can describe the content to Gemini, which will then make an educated guess, similar to its functionality on phones and computers.
Additionally, Gemini can aid in learning by answering questions related to school projects or new skills. For culinary inspiration, users can ask Gemini for cooking ideas based on available ingredients.
As with typical Google releases, Gemini will not be immediately available on all Google TV devices. It will debut on the TCL QM9K series this week, with more devices, including the Google TV Streamer and 2025 models from Hisense and TCL, set to receive Gemini later this year.
