Adobe Introduces ‘Spatial Effects’ Editing on Samsung Galaxy XR
Adobe's Project Pulsar is now available as a beta test on Samsung Galaxy XR, allowing users to add 'spatial effects' to 3D videos.
The video editor facilitates 3D compositing of text and other effects into videos captured by the phone or Samsung Galaxy XR headset. According to the official description on the Google Play Store, the app enables users to insert text into video scenes.
During a pre-launch briefing for the Galaxy XR device, UploadVR observed a demonstration where a representative captured video of attendees and inserted text into the scene. After processing, the final video displayed objects appearing to float in front of the video subjects, though some text appeared to cut into the environment during playback.
The video editor seems to utilize the media content to represent dynamic lighting and shadows on the 3D text and objects. While this type of on-the-fly video production hasn't been tested with Apple Vision Pro headsets, the newly released M5 edition may provide developers with resources for similar 'spatial computing' tasks.
With advancements in Galaxy XR headsets, two generations of Apple Vision Pro, and the Meta ecosystem focusing on hand tracking, extensive testing of apps like Project Pulsar in real-world scenarios for 'spatial computing' tasks is anticipated.
