Microsoft Faces Challenges in Proving Copilot ROI

Microsoft claims that its Copilot tool is enhancing productivity among users, yet convincing them of its return on investment remains challenging.

Jared Spataro, Microsoft's corporate vice president for Modern Work and Business Applications, acknowledged this at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia + Technology Conference.

When questioned about productivity benefits, Spataro stated that while efficiency improvements of 20 to 30 percent are possible, demonstrating ROI is difficult unless directly tied to sales metrics.

Spataro noted a significant shift in enterprise attitudes over the past six months, with many now committed to implementing AI assistants, though decisions on specific tools are still pending.

Microsoft has invested heavily in Copilot, and failure could have serious repercussions for its executives. Recent trials have not fully convinced all stakeholders of its productivity benefits.

The company is enlisting its global resellers to advocate for Copilot's advantages, hoping to secure widespread adoption and justify its substantial investment.
