
AI Chatbot Usage Surges, Copilot Leads Growth
The usage of AI chatbots has surged recently. According to the latest statistics from Comscore, users of Microsoft Copilot, Google Gemini, and OpenAI's ChatGPT have increased from March to June this year. Among them, Microsoft Copilot experienced a 175% increase, making it the fastest-growing chatbot. Google Gemini followed with a 68% increase, and ChatGPT saw an 18% rise. However, in terms of overall user numbers, ChatGPT still holds the lead.
From March to June, ChatGPT had 36.1 million users on desktops and 25.3 million on mobile devices. Copilot users reached 23.1 million on desktops and 8.8 million on mobile. Gemini secured 14.2 million users on mobile. Comscore's data indicates that over 85% of mobile users stick with one AI, with ChatGPT users showing the highest loyalty.
The significant growth of Microsoft Copilot is particularly notable among mobile users. Smriti Sharma from Comscore explained that Microsoft's ecosystem integration and productivity use cases have contributed to Copilot's mobile growth. Microsoft's mobile-first approach aligns well with lightweight productivity tasks.
Other AI tools in the top five include Canva, Grammarly, Octane AI, and Voicemod. Canva had 15.1 million users on desktops and 7.6 million on mobile. Grammarly was used by 5.4 million on desktops, Octane AI had 8.3 million mobile users, and Voicemod was used by 4.7 million on desktops.
According to Comscore's new AI tracking data, AI usage on mobile devices increased by 5.3% from March to June, while desktop usage decreased by 11%. However, AI usage remains higher on desktops. The surge in AI usage reflects how quickly consumers are embracing AI as part of everyday life.
