Framer Raises $100M at $2B Valuation in Series D

Framer, a website design platform based in Amsterdam and San Francisco, has secured $100 million in Series D funding, valuing the company at $2 billion. The funding round was led by existing investors Meritech Capital Partners and Atomico.

The company plans to use the new capital to expand operations and accelerate product development.

Founded in 2015 by Koen Bok and Jorn van Dijk, Framer allows teams to design and publish professional websites without coding. Its platform is utilized by both startups and enterprises, including Scale AI, Perplexity, Miro, and Bilt Rewards.

Framer reported that it is on track to achieve $100 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR) next year. According to the company, 40% of the most recent Y Combinator startup batch are using its software.

The platform distinguishes itself from traditional visual website builders by offering additional business-focused tools such as A/B testing, analytics, and enterprise-grade security.

CEO Koen Bok and CTO Jorn van Dijk previously co-founded design software company Sofa, which was acquired by Facebook in 2011. According to Crunchbase, Framer has now raised a total of $161 million in funding.

Framer's Series D raise comes amid volatility in the broader design software market. Shares of competitor Figma have dropped around 40% since its recent IPO, highlighting shifting investor sentiment in the sector.

Despite this, Framer's focus on speed, flexibility, and enterprise features positions it to challenge incumbents like Squarespace and emerging competitors in the no-code design space.
