Cohere Launches Advanced AI Translation Model

Toronto-based startup Cohere has announced that its Command A Translate model surpasses leading AI tools such as OpenAI’s GPT-5, DeepSeek’s V3, Google Translate, and DeepL’s Pro system. The model supports '23 widely used business languages,' including French, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, and Hindi.

Translation has been a popular consumer application for AI even before the advent of ChatGPT. However, the large language models (LLMs) powering new generative tools promise improved interpretation by considering context. Cohere markets its models and North agent-builder tools to businesses, enabling them to run the software on their systems and connect it to their documents and data. This allows Command A Translate to handle sensitive files, according to the company. Cohere has emphasized its multilingual capabilities, training its LLMs on languages widely used in regions currently 'under-serviced' by technology.
