Earlier this month, Google introduced Gemini for Home alongside several home devices. Today, Gemini for Home has begun its rollout in the United States, but there are certain conditions to note.

Gemini for Home is currently in early access mode, requiring users to request access if they wish to be among the first testers in the US. To do so, users must navigate to Google Groups settings > Global Settings and ensure 'Add me to their groups' is checked. Then, in the Google Home app, users should tap their profile picture or initials and select Home settings, where the 'early access' option can be found to request access.

Once access is granted, Gemini for Home will replace Google Assistant on compatible smart home devices. This change is irreversible, meaning users cannot revert to Google Assistant if they change their minds. Additionally, access to Gemini Live and the ability to search camera history with Gemini for Home require a paid Google Home Premium subscription.

This development signifies a shift in smart home technology, offering users a novel experience.
