Microsoft Declines to Develop Erotic Chatbots

Microsoft's AI Chief Mustafa Suleyman has announced the company will not develop AI for erotica, diverging from partner OpenAI's recent policy to allow adult content on ChatGPT.

Speaking at the Paley International Council Summit in Menlo Park, California, Suleyman made Microsoft's position clear. He stated, "That's just not a service we're going to provide," emphasizing the risks associated with such AI developments and the need for cautious decision-making.

Microsoft's stance reflects a cautious approach to AI safety and aligns with new state laws regulating AI companion bots, highlighting a growing industry divide over handling sensitive AI applications.

OpenAI's recent policy shift has been controversial. CEO Sam Altman defended the move by emphasizing user autonomy for adults as AI becomes more integrated into daily life. However, Microsoft remains focused on building human-centered AI.
