Anthropic Introduces ‘Skills’ for Claude to Enhance AI Utility

AI agents are transitioning into practical tools, with Anthropic unveiling 'Skills' for Claude to enhance AI functionality. These Skills are folders filled with scripts and resources designed to improve Claude's performance in specific tasks.

Users can create custom Skills tailored to their workflows across Claude.ai, Claude Code, Anthropic's API, and the Claude Agent SDK. Companies like Box, Rakuten, and Canva are already utilizing these capabilities. The feature is available to Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise users.

Brad Abrams, Anthropic's product lead, explained that Skills enable organizations to teach Claude to perform specific tasks rather than just excel in generic AI benchmarks. This development aims to make AI more applicable to real-world business scenarios.

Following OpenAI's AgentKit announcement, Anthropic's release signifies a shift from 'cool demos' to 'real products' in AI agents. This marks a significant step in making AI technology more applicable and valuable in practical settings.
