88rising’s Head in the Clouds Celebrates Asian Culture in Brooklyn
Last month, 88rising's Head in the Clouds NYC showcased a diverse lineup of artists embracing Asian talent and culture in a night of dance music at Under the K Bridge. Thousands gathered to enjoy performances by icons like ISOxo, Rich Brian, Yuki Chiba, and KUN.
On September 20, the Kosciuszko Bridge was illuminated as Head in the Clouds made its debut in Brooklyn. Sponsored by TAAF, the festival focused on raising AAPI awareness and promoting Asian culture globally.
DJ Nick Cheo highlighted 88rising's role in emphasizing Asian American and Asian artists, expressing a desire to be recognized simply as an artist. He noted the importance of not being confined to the Asian American category.
Attendees had the opportunity to move between two stages under the bridge, witnessing live performances by GEMINI, Rich Brian, and KUN, as well as DJ sets by DJ Mandy, ISOxo, and GroovyRoom. The event featured flashing lights and a booming bass, with thousands dancing throughout the night.
This year's Head in the Clouds festival marks 88rising's 10th anniversary, bringing Asian-centric music from countries like Indonesia, the Philippines, Japan, China, and South Korea to Los Angeles and New York. The event was made possible with support from sponsors such as TAAF, HEYTEA, VITA, Red Bull, and Hennessy.
