Console Launcher Introduces Dual-Screen Support

A new beta version of Console Launcher has been released, offering new features and improvements, including initial support for dual-display devices. This update is applicable to devices such as the AYN Thor and AYANEO Pocket DS.

The update adds a secondary display info screen integrated with RetroAchievements, allowing players to track their progress without cluttering the main view. Videos posted on Console Launcher’s Discord showcase the new Grid Menu on the lower screen and a larger, per-game visual on the upper screen.

The Grid Menu is now resolution adaptive, automatically resizing to fit various screen sizes and allowing re-ordering with bumper buttons. Visual upgrades include a new auto-focus feature in folders and the app drawer, along with adjustments to other UI modes.

Under the hood, numerous fixes have been made, including resolving the 'Not a Supported Browser' message with the Google Image Search feature, general fixes for storage error handling, and improved RetroAchievement load times in user profiles.

This major beta update prepares Console Launcher for the next generation of handhelds with forward-thinking dual-screen support and a redesigned UI. Another dual-screen launcher is in development and expected to arrive soon.

Eager users can download the beta from the Console Launcher GitHub page now, with the official update scheduled for release on the Play Store later this year.
