Microsoft Study Identifies Jobs Most Vulnerable to AI Replacement
A recent study by Microsoft has identified job roles most susceptible to replacement by AI, as well as those least likely to be affected. Although the study is yet to be peer-reviewed, it evaluates various metrics to determine AI's suitability for specific roles.
The findings reveal that roles in teaching, writing, and information-based services are most likely to be undertaken by AI. Conversely, positions such as embalmers, facial surgeons, masseuses, and motorboat operators are among the least likely to be replaced due to their specialized human requirements.
The study introduces an 'AI applicability score' for each job, indicating the likelihood of AI replacing current human roles, which may cause concern for many. Authors, historians, travel agents, switchboard operators, and data scientists are among those most at risk of AI replacement.
The research distinguishes between roles that AI can support and those it can fully perform. The results suggest a growing trend towards AI integration in the workforce, highlighting the need for adaptation in certain career paths.
