OpenAI Introduces Shared Projects for ChatGPT Business
OpenAI has introduced updates for ChatGPT Business, featuring shared projects, connectors from leading applications, and enhanced compliance controls. Shared projects are now available for Business, Enterprise, and Edu users, with plans to extend access to Free, Go, Plus, and Pro users soon. Connectors are accessible in settings, and administrators can manage access. OpenAI reports a user base of 5 million businesses, with projects shareable only within a workspace.
Shared projects enable a transition from single-user to team mode, allowing team members to add files and instructions to a single project. This facilitates the use of context across various chats by ChatGPT. Project creators can invite others via email or link, providing chat or edit access. Each project retains a private memory, ensuring continuity in long-term work. Use cases include client work, content production, and reporting.
Connectors can now extract context from platforms such as Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Contacts, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, GitHub, Dropbox, and Box. ChatGPT can autonomously decide when to utilize a connector or perform a search. Synced connectors reduce latency by preloading data. OpenAI has announced forthcoming connectors across CRM, knowledge, and ticketing systems, with availability within projects and GPTs. LogicMonitor has reported productivity improvements using Drive with ChatGPT.
OpenAI has also added ISO 27001, 27017, 27018, and 27701 certifications and expanded SOC 2 to include four Trust Services Criteria. Enterprise and Edu users benefit from role-based access controls, IP allowlisting, and SSO with OIDC in addition to SAML. By default, data from the Business plan is not used for training. For Enterprise and Edu users, connectors and shared features are disabled by default and can be enabled by administrators.
