Elon Musk Seeks Talent for New AI Software Firm Macrohard

Elon Musk is intensifying recruitment efforts for Macrohard, his newly announced AI software venture aimed at simulating companies like Microsoft Corporation.

Musk introduced Macrohard as a 'purely AI software company' with a playful name. xAI co-founder Yuhuai Wu announced the formation of a team to develop computer control agents, which will be integrated into Macrohard and Grok 5.

A U.S. trademark filing for Macrohard includes a broad range of AI applications, such as text and speech generation, video game design, and coding. The launch of Macrohard adds to Musk's expanding business empire, which includes Tesla, xAI, X Corp, The Boring Company, SpaceX, and Neuralink.

Musk expressed confidence that xAI could achieve Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) with the upcoming Grok 5 model. AGI represents an AI system capable of performing tasks at or above human intelligence, a major goal for AI companies worldwide.

Currently, Grok AI is integrated into Tesla vehicles in the U.S. equipped with Advanced Micro Devices chips, and plans are underway to introduce DeepSeek AI in Chinese vehicles, developed in collaboration with ByteDance's Dubao AI.

Tensions have arisen between Musk and Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates over Tesla and philanthropic issues. Gates acknowledged Musk's strong reaction to his short position on Tesla stock. By 2025, their disagreement had evolved into a broader ideological conflict over foreign aid, philanthropy, and the responsibilities of the wealthy.

Musk and Microsoft-backed OpenAI are embroiled in a legal and business dispute. The conflict intensified after OpenAI shifted from a nonprofit to a for-profit model, leading Musk to file a lawsuit against OpenAI and CEO Sam Altman. OpenAI accused Musk of conducting a harassment campaign to disrupt its operations.
