Indonesian Telecoms to Standardize Open API Protocols

Indonesian telecom operators Telkomsel, Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, and XLSmart have launched an alliance to accelerate the standardization of security-focused open telecom API protocols in the country.

The Joint Telco API Alliance Initiative will see the adoption of a unified telecom API protocol based on the international CAMARA standard, facilitating easier and safer integration across Indonesia's digital landscape.

Supported by the GSMA Open Gateway initiative, the alliance aims to simplify the process for developers by allowing them to target all three telecom operators simultaneously.

The alliance plans to gradually introduce six solutions focused on preventing account hacking and fraud, including features like number status checks, device validation, and real-time data network analysis to detect fraudulent transactions.

This collaboration is expected to foster new solutions and enhance the competitiveness of Indonesia's telecommunications industry, serving as a catalyst for strategic collaborations in delivering advanced digital services.
