Elon Musk Focuses on xAI as Grok Hits 64 Million Users
Elon Musk is increasingly focusing on his artificial intelligence startup, xAI, as Tesla faces mounting pressure from its board and shareholders.
In a recent staff meeting, Musk emphasized xAI's mission to develop truth-seeking AI, cautioning against the dangers of systems trained to deceive. He highlighted projects such as a Microsoft competitor named Macrohard and a children's chatbot called Baby Grok.
The Grok chatbot, xAI's flagship product, has reached 64 million monthly users. Despite leadership changes, the company, valued at $120 billion, continues to expand its hiring and infrastructure.
Tesla shareholders are set to vote in November on a proposal to invest in xAI, a decision Musk believes could influence the automaker's future. The board is also considering a trillion-dollar compensation package to ensure his continued focus on Tesla.
